For the summer school in Borjomi, BRIDGE Consult developed a dedicated training programme and textbook built on practical construction project problems.
The training moved from analysing a specific situation to studying the applicable contract conditions and project management methods. Participants analysed the source data, built the parties’ positions, proposed solutions and tested how well they were justified.
What the programme covered
- FIDIC contract administration: parties’ obligations, notices, contractual procedures and the consequences of non-compliance.
- Claims and disputes: analysing the circumstances, working with documents, substantiating entitlement to additional payment and extension of time.
- Delay analysis: calculating the critical path and float, assessing concurrent delay, working with programmes and justifying acceleration.
- Group work and discussion of solutions: comparing the arguments of the Employer, the Contractor and the Engineer.
- Final tests: checking understanding of the material and the ability to apply it to practical situations.
The aim of this approach is to learn how to find the applicable contract clause, link it to the facts and justify the next steps.
